sINCE 1933

Phillips Lancaster County Cheese Company had it's beginning in 1933 when a group of Amish and Mennonite farmers formed a cheese-making coop in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch farm country near Intercourse, Pa.

The depression-era business venture allowed the farmers to combine their excess milk to produce cheese for the local markets. Eventually the operation changed to private ownership.

In 1973, Jack and Mae Phillips bought the plant, and began perfecting their famous Lancaster County Natural Swiss cheese. They modernized they plant, increased production, added workers, and diversified the line of cheeses.

When they retired, their son-in-law, Doug Weinhold, bought the company. Under his leadership, Phillips Lancaster County Cheese Company developed an exclusively wholesale operation, added a fleet of trucks, and expanded the product line to include additional fine domestic cheeses and deli meats.

Today, Phillips Lancaster County Cheese Company is led by the third generation, Jess Weinhold. She heads a dynamic team who continue to serve the needs of our ever expanding list of customers, making Phillips Lancaster County Cheese Company the fastest growing purveyor of domestic cheese in Pennsylvania.
